For investors
Buy a business that already works ๐ฐ
5 brands, 15 formats, entry from โน8L, payback from 12 months. Answer five questions and every one of them gets scored against your situation โ with the reasoning shown, including the parts we could not judge.
How much can you actually put in?
Total project cost, not just the fee. Be honest โ an over-stated budget wastes your own time.
How the score is built ๐งฎ
No black box. These five weights, normalised over whatever we could actually evidence.
Does the entry price overlap your band? Anything above it is dropped, not padded.
Is your city mapped open, reserved, or already licensed to someone else?
Your preference is a weight, not a wall โ a strong brand outside it still shows.
FOFO wants you in the shop. FOCO does not. A mismatch here ruins otherwise good deals.
Weighted lowest because it is the number brands are most optimistic about.
Confidence is separate from fit. If a brand has published no payback period and has not mapped your city, we score what is left and tell you the confidence is 60% โ rather than quietly filling the gaps with averages.
The four ownership models, plainly ๐
Half the disappointment in franchising comes from buying the wrong one of these.
You buy it and you run it. The brand supplies the system, the training and the supply chain.
Your job: Hire the team, hold the standards, own the P&L. Highest margin, highest demand on your time.
You fund the outlet, the brand operates it and pays you a share. Closer to a property investment.
Your job: Fund it, read the monthly numbers, approve capex. You are not in the shop.
You buy a city or a state and sub-franchise inside it. You become the franchisor locally.
Your job: Sell and support sub-franchisees, run a small regional team. A business, not an outlet.
The brand keeps this format for itself โ usually the flagship. Not for sale, listed so the map is honest.
Your job: Nothing to buy here. Shown so you can see which formats the brand will never license.
Or skip the questions ๐
